Puppies First OUTSIDE Experience

What an exciting morning we have had! The puppies have been sleeping for about an hour now since they are exhausted. This morning we took them outside to play for the first time. They had so much fun exploring and jumping around and eventually nursing since Ruby came outside too! There are so many fun pictures from this experience I could not post them all on one blog so I made an album to be viewed from Kodak Gallery. Just copy and paste this link into your web browser and you can view the photos! It should work fine but if there are problems let me know ASAP and I will fix it! There is also a video of how our first outing turned into a feeding with Mommy Ruby. Enjoy!

More Food Makes Our Puppies Sleepy

This morning our puppies are 4 weeks old soooo the back of their food bag says to increase their food portions. Well that extra food sure made them sleepy!! So sleepy that Mr. Sky Blue (Chocolate Boy) and Miss Pink both fell asleep with their faces still in the bowl and the others were still eating around them (others did this during dinner tonight as well!)!! It was too funny! They are turning into great little eaters though and have been gaining lots of weight as proof they are getting their calories!! Here are some fun pictures from breakfast!

First Foods and Play

It has been a week of FIRSTS for our puppies!

On Thursday night we had our first experience with solid food (well kind of solid). We fed them a blended up mixture of puppy kibble soaked in water and mixed with Esbilac (puppy formula). Usually puppies use up more food than they eat the first week since they don't really know how to eat and they play in it and make a mess but don't really eat it. Well our puppies did NOT have this problem (which means they are true Cardanis)! We fed them in two groups of 5 and they scarfed that first meal down! None of them had a problem figuring out how to eat!! We are now feeding them 3 meals a day and they sure love it! They also still like to nurse but Ruby is not in the whelping box with them as much now (which is normal at this age) so they only nurse a few times a day and during the night when she sleeps with them. Next week, she will only spend the night with the puppies and the week after that she will only come in for short play times so her milk will dry up and they will be only eating solid foods. We will slowly be adding less and less water to the food so that they will eventually be eating just the dry kibble.

This week we also gave the puppies their first toys!! They had been chewing on each other and wrestling so much that we figured they would love to play with toys. First they did a little investigating by smelling them and licking them and then they started to chew and play.

Here are some pictures from this exciting week!

Some CUTE Videos

Here are some videos of the puppies from the last week or so. They are ADORABLE! Enjoy!

In this one the puppies are acting like dogs for the first time (last week)! They are walking, barking, and sitting up. (Miss Yellow even squats to go potty!)

Here is one of the puppies rushing to eat when Ruby got in the box last week.

Here is one of the puppies eating today. They can now eat while Ruby is standing up!

And here is the cutest one of all! They are all playing with each other (today) - chewing each other and wrestling!

Instant Dogs

Our little puppies are actually starting to look and act like dogs!!

All 10 have opened their little eyes, are walking (even if it's wobbly), and have started to bark! Today when Ruby got back in the whelping box to feed and clean them, they were all really acting like little doggies. They are even starting tp play with each other a little bit by kind of wrestling or chewing on each others ears. Also, now that their eyes are open their ears are slowly starting to open. There aren't any actual openings yet but they are starting to seperate. Here are some new pictures. Enjoy! (there will be some videos of this soon but they would not load on the blog so I am going to need to find another way!)

Here are some pictures of their eyes open a couple days ago--

Miss White (we think in this picture she looks like her daddy Smokey!)

We were cleaning out the whelping box and Copper was very curious about the puppies in the cardboard box, but Ruby was so tired she just passed out next to it.

They have all started sitting up too - Here is Miss White!
