Home to Their Forever Families

Our Family with ALL the puppies and Ruby and Copper

So it has been a while since we posted and there are several reasons. One is that the holidays have been very, very busy but for another reason we did it on purpose. We haven't posted yet about how the puppies went home, their names, and who they went to because we were keeping one big secret. One of our puppies, Miss Pink, was going to be a Christmas surprise for Gary and Sharon's niece and nephew, Danny and Kelly Oosterman. We didn't want to post anything about where the puppies had gone since they read the blog and might have been suspicious. Well we definately tricked them and they were VERY surprised when they got Miss Pink for Christmas (see picture below). It was lots of fun!! But now that the surprise is over, it is time to give you all the updates!!

The BIG surprise!

It has seemed VERY quiet around our house lately without the puppies. Having 3 puppies (Miss Yellow is still here until after New Years, and our 2, Jake and Stella) is a walk in the park compared to 10 puppies. All but Miss Yellow and Miss Pink (who went home on Christmas) went home to their homes a couple weeks ago. We miss them but are so happy they all went to good homes. Here are some pictures of the pups with their new forever families. Enjoy!

This experience has been a lot of work but a lot of fun too!! Hope you all enjoyed reading about Ruby and her litter as much as we enjoyed sharing it with you! We will post some updates periodically about the puppies when we get them and obviously about our own!! Happy New Year to you all!

Almost Time to Go Home!

On Tuesday our puppies turned 8 weeks old!! That means that they are almost ready to go home to their new families! But before they could we needed to take them to the vet for their 8 week check up and first round of vaccines. Tuesday morning we put 10 dogs into 2 kennels and drove up to the vet. It was quite an adventure getting them all there. They must have been scared because they didn't even squirm much when they were on the vet table. For the most part they sat still and let the vet check them out.

So now that they have gone to the vet they are pretty much ready to be going home and will be picked up by their new families this weekend! We are happy (since it has been so much work) and sad (since it has been so much fun and they are so cute) to see them go. One of our puppies, Miss White (now named Ruca) already went home to her forever home last night. Gary and Sharon's nephew Danny, who has helped us out a TON with these puppies, came to pick up his puppy Ruca and take her home. He said she had lots of fun all evening playing with her new friends (their 2 dogs Mateo and Molly). We were sad to see her go but she is coming back for a visit this weekend to meet Domenic when he comes home from Hawaii so we know we will be seeing her soon! More exciting news is that a couple more of our puppies have been given names! The Saich family (owners of the litter's Dad-Smokey) will be taking home Miss Orange who will be named Maddie and Mr. Sky Blue who will be named Scout. After all the puppies go home on Sunday we will post the families they all went home with and hopefully some pictures of them with their new families! So check back soon! We will be enjoying our last couple days with our puppies!

Our First Bath and Daddy Smokey Visits

What a busy few weeks it has been with our puppies! We haven't even had any time to post of the blog because we have been so busy playing with, feeding, and cleaning up after the puppies. Now that Ruby doesn't do all the work like when they were little it has defaintely been more challenging for us!

And since they have gotten a lot more messy, this week they got VERY stinky so we decided it was time to clean them up a bit. We gave them their first bath in the kitchen sink. It was very clear that even though I am sure they like no longer being stinky, they did not enjoy the bath! They were very squirmy and tried to get out of the sink the whole time!

They also have gotten to spend a lot of time outside this week. They had their first experience in the dog pen that we have in our backyard. They love running around and playing with their toys and getting fresh air. Then when they get tired they all snuggle up together in the dog house. It is adorable!!

They are definately going to miss snuggling with each other when they go home in about a week. But we know they will also be very happy to be with their new families and will get lots of love and snuggles from them! Speaking of going home with their new families, we have another puppy who has been picked out and named! Miss Purple will be going home with the Miller family and is going to be named Sarah. She even got to play with her new family this morning when they came to visit and she definately enjoyed them!

Also this week the puppies got to meet their dad, Smokey, for the first time. He came to visit for a couple hours and even though they stayed in the dog pen, they got to get a look at him and he got to see them. Smokey and Ruby got to play together for a little while too! It was very cute.

This next Tuesday we are going to the vet for our 8 week shots and check up and soon after that our puppies will be going home. It will definately be bittersweet to see them go. We are definately ready since it has been exhausing the last couple weeks but we will still miss them. We are all happy they are going to loving homes though so we are excited for that! So check back soon for updates and for pictures of our puppies with their new families when they get picked up.

Puppy Updates

We only have a few short weeks to go until the puppies are between 8 and 9 weeks and will be going home to their families. The time has gone by soooo fast!! A few of our puppies even already have their homes and names picked out for them!! Miss Red and Mr. Royal Blue are staying here at the Cardani house. Miss Red is going to be Chelsea's dog who is now named Stella. Mr. Royal Blue is going to be the Cardani family dog and is now named Jake. Miss White is going home with our cousin (Gary and Sharon's nephew) Danny and is now named Ruca. We will let you know all the puppies homes and names in the coming weeks when we know for sure.

The puppies have been MUCH more active and have been getting time out of the box about twice every day. They go out into the backyard (weather permitting) and also get to play out on the hardwood floor in the kitchen. They have really become more adventurous and are always exploring their new environments. The first time in the backyard they barely went off the cement but this morning they were all over the place-- in bushes, all over the lawn, and even exploring our dog pen and dog houses. Then they all fell asleep on the dog bed again after getting out all their energy. Since they were sleeping we arranged them by color and took their picture (the picture at the top!).

Here is a link to some new fun pictures of the puppies playing outside and in the house so just click on it and view the pictures!
